I have not read the primary research, but I echo Dr Edward Hallowell's sentiments. He is the leading ADHD guy and his approach includes getting some real basics in place that are often missing in families: good eating, good sleeping, order and routines etc...
I often refer to the expression "children who feel good, do good". That includes emotional and physical wellness. I know eating balanced wholesome, fresh prepared food is a good healthy start for all children - regardless of how much they like to talk, interrupt, jiggle and bounce.
